Paintbox is a Kids Art Center originally started in San Francisco and now moved to Rochester NY

Paintbox ran successfully in San Francisco under the direction of Nicki Harris and is now in Rochester NY!

Paintbox Kids Art Center at 3122 Monroe Ave (entire upper level) offers 2 Hr Drop-In Sessions you reserve online where you come with your kids to have fun and create, or just breathe. There are also Drop off classes for many ages and of course…Birthday parties. Our Rochester location features a fully open floor plan with play on one side and Art on the other. Currently we do not have our chair lift installed at our second entrance so we are not wheelchair or stroller accessible, as there is a single flight of carpeted stairs leading up to the main space. But we will keep you updated on this.

For parents and caretakers who want to try something different than the library or museum that is the extremely affordable, Paintbox is a great place to start. Each week the activities will shift with new things brought out. You can relax and enjoy the vibes at Paintbox! Storytime is Wed + Thurs mornings at 11am. Our facility is shoes off and nut free; you are welcome to bring your coffees.

At Paintbox we are all about imaginary play, sensory play, and letting kids find their own style. Our space is great for infants coming with siblings as well. Paintbox in general is meant for kids aged 2-10 but older kids do enjoy the slime, loom bands, mini arcade games, legos and drawing.

Outside the NEW location - gorgeous building! I call it “the castle” but it is the old divinity school in Brighton that was then used for weddings and now Paintbox is the front right side of it (it’s big in our space) and we share the building with GCCS which is a fantastic charter school where many of my Paintbox kids attend. We have plenty of easy parking right out front. We will now be fully accessible (I mean FULLY! Wheelchairs, walkers, strollers… you will be so comfortable and it’s so easy to get it). Our bathrooms which are through a door inside our space even have a long accessible ramp leading down to them that makes it easy to go down or back up. There are also bathrooms in the main lobby right outside of our door too but we shouldn’t even need them. Opening in October! The new program will include older kids (9-14) with special hang out social drawing classes for just them on Tuesdays at 4:30. We will run our Family Stay and Play sessions Tuesday mornings and midday, Wednesday mornings, Thursday mornings and afternoon and Friday mornings and afternoon as well as Saturday mornings and midday. Afterschool Art will be offered Wed/Thursday plus several Drawing classes. Four kinds of Birthdays will be offered! Check those out in the General Info and Birthday Info Page. Hope to see you there!
